The text for the day was Matthew 6:33: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.” A gathering for encouragement, and a reminder of the order that makes room for everything else.

The Kingdom Builders Men's Fellowship of the Christian Family Tabernacle, the CFT Family, gathered for the purpose of encouraging one another. The text for the day was Matthew 6:33.

These are words men have leaned on for generations, and they were the heart of the gathering: before the worries of the day, before the cares of the week, before everything else that presses in, seek first the kingdom of God.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Matthew 6:33, King James Version

The verse of the day, kept exactly as it reads in the King James Version. It was the foundation of the gathering and of the encouragement shared among the men.

Seeking His Kingdom First

The gathering placed its emphasis on making God's kingdom and His righteousness our top priority in our lives.

What does that look like on an ordinary day? It looks like beginning with Him. It looks like asking, before we lean on our own understanding, what He would have us do. It looks like letting His ways shape our ways, His priorities shape our priorities, and His peace guard our hearts.

It does not mean ignoring the practical things. The verse does not say that “all these things” do not matter. It says they are added unto us when the kingdom comes first. There is freedom in that order. When we put His kingdom first, the rest finds its place.

What It Looks Like to Encourage One Another

A gathering for encouragement is a gathering where men remind one another of that order.

Encouragement looks like honest words: “Seek ye first.” It looks like praying for one another by name. It looks like a brother asking how you are really doing, and staying long enough to hear the answer. It looks like rejoicing together when God provides, and waiting together when He asks us to wait.

None of us keep the priority on our own. That is why we gather. The Kingdom Builders Men's Fellowship exists so that no man has to walk this season alone.

Seeking first often begins quietly, in the stillness of the morning, before the day fills with noise.

A Prayer Request from the Fellowship

The fellowship asks readers to include them in prayer. You may pray it slowly, out loud or in your heart, and use it as your own words before the Lord.

Father,

Continue to minister among men, not only here in Elk Grove, but to the rest of the people of Sacramento and beyond.

Keep building Your kingdom in our hearts, keep teaching us to seek Your righteousness first, and keep our gatherings places of honest encouragement.

Bless every man who is seeking, every man who is struggling, and every man who is quietly asking what it means to put You first.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.

A Closing Word

Thank you for taking a quiet moment with this word, and for remembering the fellowship in your prayers. May you seek His kingdom first today, and may all the rest be added unto you.

God bless you.
