The day the Lodge opened
On June 20, 2026, Elk Grove came together for the grand opening of the Lodge at Esplanade
at Madeira Ranch. NorCal55Plus was there before the doors opened, in time for the
ceremony: the speeches, the special guests, and a ribbon cutting the team described as
eight months in the making. With one cut, the Lodge was officially open.
Why the Lodge matters is simpler than the budget behind it. It is the social heart of the
community, and the opening was the first time a full crowd got to feel it.
What the Lodge holds
The Lodge at Esplanade at Madeira Ranch is a 21,658-square-foot resort clubhouse
featuring the Barrel House Bistro & Tap Room, wellness fitness center, golf
simulator, resort pool and spa, pickleball courts, and on-site lifestyle director.
The video walks the whole building and the grounds around it. Outside, there is a
resort-style pool made for afternoons in the California sunshine, a poolside bar, private
cabanas, and shaded pergolas. On opening day a live band played, and the pool deck did
what it was designed to do.

Inside is the social heart of the community. The Barrel House Bistro and Taproom was
standing room only at the opening, with big screens and cold drinks. Across the hall you
will find billiards, and nearby a golf simulator for year-round play when the weather
stays inside. A full fitness center, lawn games, bocce courts, and comfortable lounges
round out the plan.
On the comparison tour, Gary and Rutsell point out what the numbers cannot: how the
spaces connect. The pool deck sits steps from the taproom, so a summer afternoon can run
from the water to a cold drink without crossing a parking lot. The golf simulator keeps
the social calendar full when the weather turns, and the pickleball courts give the
resort grounds an active, everyday rhythm. Their read is that every room here was built
to be used, and the opening crowd proved it.

What the team said it means matters as much as the list. This is a place to meet
neighbors, build friendships, share a meal, and turn an ordinary afternoon into something
memorable. For residents, the Lodge is where the community actually happens.
Who can live at Esplanade at Madeira Ranch?
Esplanade at Madeira Ranch is a 55+ community. Here is the age rule as Taylor Morrison
publishes it for this community: at least one resident must be 55 or older, no one under
18 may live there permanently, and some younger adults may qualify for permanent
residency. That is the publisher’s stated standard for this specific community, not
a rule that carries over to every 55+ community, so do not assume another
community’s policy matches it.
The enforceable details, including age verification and occupancy, come from the
community’s governing documents. Confirm the current CC&Rs and association rules
with the builder or the community before you plan around any of it.
What the opening means for Elk Grove
The team’s point through the whole video is simple: this is what a life well-earned
can look like. The Lodge brings a new level of 55+ resort living to Elk Grove, the kind
of amenity package that used to mean a drive to a resort, now part of the neighborhood.

Coverage and expertise behind the camera
NorCal55Plus.com covers more than 30 active-adult communities across the Greater
Sacramento region, and the team personally tours communities to help buyers compare homes,
locations, amenities, HOA costs, and lifestyles. That is the team’s own coverage
claim from the video, not an independent statistic, and it is the reason these videos
exist.
The coverage does not stop at the ribbon. The team has announced follow-up filming from
Esplanade at Madeira Ranch: a sit-down interview with the Resort Director, Billy, a
one-on-one with the community’s first resident, and model-home tours. Those are
announced and planned, not yet published, so check the channel and the blog for them as
they go live.
How does buyer representation work at a builder’s sales office?
If you are considering Esplanade at Madeira Ranch, the most important tip from the team
is to reach out to Gary and Rutsell before your first visit to the builder’s sales
office. That first visit is what sets who represents you.
Here is the plain-English version. The builder’s on-site sales team represents the
builder. Gary and Rutsell represent you. For them to represent you on a new-construction
home at Esplanade, they need to be with you from the beginning, including that first
conversation in the sales office.
One more thing worth knowing about their practice: in most new-construction cases the
builder covers the cost of representation, and they never charge the buyer a fee. That is
their practice for this type of purchase, and it is worth confirming in your own
transaction, but it is why having your own agents in the room costs you nothing extra.
A friendly heads-up before you tour: in
California, once you check into a new-construction sales office as an unrepresented
walk-in, the builder typically registers you without an agent, and that can limit who
can represent you in the purchase later. The easy fix is to call or text Gary or Rutsell
before you step into the Taylor Morrison sales office, so they can accompany you from
day one. No jargon, just protection: your representation rights stay with you from the
moment you walk in.
What We Like
The grand-opening social energy. The Lodge was built to gather people, and the opening showed it working: music, neighbors, cold drinks, and a ribbon everyone had waited eight months to see cut.
The range of amenities under one roof. Resort pool, poolside bar and cabanas, a taproom, a full fitness center, bocce, billiards, and a golf simulator all live at the Lodge.
The level of 55+ resort living it brings to Elk Grove. The team said it plainly: this is what a life well-earned can look like.
The follow-up coverage already planned, so you do not have to visit blind. The Resort Director interview, the first-resident interview, and model tours are next from the team.
What Buyers Should Know
The first-visit representation rule. To represent you on a new home here, Gary and Rutsell need to be with you on your first visit to the builder’s sales office. Reach out before you stop by.
HOA and occupancy rules vary by community. Confirm the current CC&Rs and governing documents for Esplanade at Madeira Ranch instead of assuming they match another community.
Model inventory and pricing, if any, should be verified with Taylor Morrison. The opening showed the Lodge, not a price sheet, and builders update both constantly.
The follow-up coverage is planned but not yet published. The Resort Director interview, the first-resident interview, and the model-home tours are announced, not live.
Before you visit: a short checklist
Each of these is a five-minute ask that saves a longer detour later.
Call or text Gary and Rutsell before your first trip to the sales office, so they can
be there and represent you from the start.
Ask Taylor Morrison for the current price sheet and model-home availability.
Request the current CC&Rs and HOA documents, and review the fees and rules before
you fall in love with a floor plan.
Plan time to see the Lodge amenities in person. The video is the teaser; the walk
through is the real test.
